6 Ways to Become a Singapore Permanent Resident (PR)
There are 6 routes to applying for Permanent Residency in Singapore.
Professionals, Technical and Skilled Workers Scheme (PTS Scheme)
Under the PTS Scheme, applicants who are holding on to a S Pass or an Employment Pass (EP/PEP) are eligible to apply. As one of the required mandatory documents is your past 6 months payslip, you might have to wait past the 6th month mark before applying for PR.
Form: 4A
Sponsorship Scheme
Under the Sponsorship Scheme, spouses and children (under the age of 21) of a Singaporean or Singapore PR may apply for Permanent Residency.
Form: 4CO / 4SC
Global Investor Program (GIP)
The GIP scheme is catered more towards first and second generation business owners and high-net-worth individuals. It requires a monetary investment into Singapore of S$2.5 million. Recently in early 2020, there were some changes to the GIP, which I wrote about on my post here.
Foreign Students
Effective December 2017, foreign students who have resided in Singapore for a minimum period of two years and have completed a local examination (PSLE or Cambridge GCE O, A or N Levels) can apply to be a Singapore PR.
Form: 4B
Aged Parents
Aged parents over the age of 65 can apply to become Singapore Permanent Residents if they have children who are Singaporeans or Singapore PRs.
Form: 4AP
Foreign Artistic Talent
Have a knack for the arts? You can apply under the lesser-known Foreign Artistic Talent Scheme, which assess applicants based on how they excel in the arts, music or sports.
