How to Apply for an Employment Pass?

Step 1: Submitting an EP Application online
The EP application is submitted online and rarely done manually. It will cost S$105 per application per person and a processing time of approximately 3 weeks will be needed. If the application is submitted manually, the manual application is deposited by mail at any SingPost office and may take up to 8 weeks or more to be processed. The mail should also contain the required documents such as the completed Employment Pass Application Form.
Step 2: Receiving MOM’s Approval Letter
MOM will send emails containing In-Principle-Approval (IPA) letters to foreign applicants using EP Online. They will then have 6 months to come to Singapore and request their EP.
Step 3: Issue of EP
Applicants must be in Singapore at the time of collection to collect their EP. They should have submitted:
- Their passport details
- Details of their current short term visit or immigration pass
- Residential address in Singapore
- Local address for the delivery of their EP card
- Contact details of the authorized recipient (via SMS or Email)
- A payment of S$225 per pass
- $30 per Multiple Journey visa
Applicants must also present their IPA letter and several documents:
- Their passport details
- A recent passport-sized photograph not older than three months
- An Original passport with entry visa card (if not present in Singapore)
- Medical examination report if needed
Step 4: EP Notification Letter
If all documents and requirements are satisfied, the EP will be issued immediately and the authorities will issue notification letter allowing the foreign professional to work and travel into and out of Singapore. This will be valid for 1 month.
Step 5: Finger Prints and Photos
The notification letter may notify the applicant to contact the Employment Pass Service to register their fingerprints and photo. They will have to provide their:
- Passport
- Appointment letter
- Notification letter
- Any relevant documents mentioned in the IPA and notification letter
Step 6: Receiving the Employment Pass
Successful applicants will receive their employment pass within 4 working days.
