4 Ways to Strengthen Your Singapore PR Application

Applying for Singapore Permanent Residency? Each application takes anywhere from 2 to 12 months to get a response from the ICA. Here are some crucial tips to note when preparing your application.

When applying for Singapore PR, each applicant can download a list of documents which must be submitted with their applications. However - these are what I term as "Profile Documents" which paints a picture of who you are, where you were born, what you majored in, who your spouse is, but none of these documents tell the ICA Officer-in-Charge about:

  • Who the applicant is in his/her personal life
  • What his/her passions are
  • What he/she has been doing prior to arriving in Singapore
  • What he/she is currently doing now (elaborate on achievements)
  • What he/she intends to achieve/contribute if their application is approved
  • Intentions to apply for Singapore Citizenship
  • Intentions to remain in Singapore until retirement
  • Intentions to purchase property

When preparing an application for Singapore PR, you may submit additional "Supporting Documents" to the ICA via mail or via manual submission at level 5 of the ICA Building at Lavender MRT Station.

Note: You must submit a Request Form with your supporting documents. The Request Form can be obtained at the reception counter of the Permanent Residency Department of ICA (level 5).

Some of the Supporting Documents you can prepare and submit are:

  • Covering letter
  • Resume/CV
  • Clarify or declare areas of ambiguity
  • Show proof of the 3 "C"s - Commitment, Contributions, Credentials
