Man Who Breached Stay-Home Notice Gets Singapore PR Revoked And Barred From Re-Entry
In light of the recent outbreak of the Covid-19, many countries have ramped up safety measures and increased the frequency of health checks. Singapore has implemented the Stay-Home Notice (SHN) to prevent the spread of the virus. The SHN was a notice issued to Singapore residents, long-term pass holders and foreign workers who have travel history to mainland China in the last 14 days.
Recently, a 45-year-old Singaporean PR who breached his SHN requirements has lost his PR status and was also barred from re-entering Singapore. The man was a Chinese national who arrived at Changi Airport on February 20 and was required to serve a SHN due to his travel history to mainland China in the past 14 days.
He was briefed on the requirements of his SHN, however he has failed to respond to calls and was not at his place of residence upon enforcement checks conducted by ICA officers. On 23rd of February, he attempted to leave Singapore despite being warned of breaching his SHN.
As a result of his insistence, the ICA has rejected his application to renew his Re-entry Permit which resulted in the lost of his PR status.
The Singapore government takes a serious view on the recent health issue and emphasizes on the need to be responsible and not put the community at risk. Stiffer penalties may apply for those who fail to comply with the SHN.
